The paradox about desiring a life and career that’s far from home is that you’re often drawn to places that offer the most distinction and yet provide those occasional flickers of familiarity. Whether in the mannerisms or music, architecture or family systems, belonging is possible everywhere. In fact, it’s the belief in certain fundamental similarities and the reverence and respect for the fundamental differences that often draw so many to this work in the first place.

Trying to name this, to make it make sense for anyone who isn’t already nodding along is the tricky part. Christina Hardaway explains it beautifully below in relation to her own journey.
